CDC study shows adolescents and young adults living with prediabetes.

A study that had been conducted by CDC or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has come up with a revelation that close to one out five adolescents and nearly one in every four young adults are presently living their lives with a health condition named prediabetes where the sugar levels in the blood are more than they should normally be.

The study that had been observed for a period of over 10 years in between the years 2005 and 2016 had made an analysis on as many as 5,700 people who were between the age of 12 and 34 years.

Although, the people who are living with prediabetes have their blood sugar at a level which is not high enough for them to be diagnosed with the condition of Type 2 diabetes, a condition where the body is at a risk of developing diseases like heart diseases, kidney diseases and also stroke as per the CDC in their release.

Close to 18% of the people in the age of 12 & 18 and as many as 24% of the adults who are in the age group of 19 years and 34 years have been living with the condition prediabetes as per this study. The percentage was higher for men and the participants who had been struggling with obesity.

This study also indicated that the ones with prediabetes also contain very high levels of cholesterol and also other issues related to health like lower sensitivity for insulin which has enhanced the risk for type-2 diabetes and also the other cardiovascular diseases.

The cases of diabetes that go undiagnosed in adults have been increasing gradually throughout United States since the year 1980.
